Decorative Panels is proud to announce the launch of an exciting new sustainability initiative at our Elland site — the installation of a 5,500m² solar roofing system, incorporating over 2,000 photovoltaic (PV) panels.
This £1.7 million project is being delivered in partnership with Radcliffe Construction Ltd, a trusted contractor who previously completed our 38,500ft² warehouse extension in 2020. We are also working alongside long-term supply partner Firth Steels, who are providing their high-performance F200 roofing sheets to complete the overcladding of the existing roof.
This initiative represents a significant investment in energy efficiency and carbon reduction. Once completed, the new solar panel system will generate over 1.1 million kWh of electrical energy per year, contributing to a projected reduction of approximately 304 tonnes of CO₂ annually.
The energy generated will not only support our ongoing manufacturing operations, but also allow excess electricity to be sold back to the National Grid — with projected savings of over £10 million over the system’s expected 30-year lifespan.
This project is a major step forward in our environmental strategy and reflects our continued commitment to future-proofing our facilities, reducing our carbon footprint, and supporting a greener manufacturing sector.
Stay tuned for more updates as the project progresses.
